How to use Tactiq MCPs with ChatGPT

Bring your Tactiq meetings into ChatGPT.

Written by Amelia Lim

Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to summarise your last call, find a decision someone made three weeks ago, draft a follow-up email from the action items, or prep for your next 1:1.

📌 Note: Tactiq connects to ChatGPT as a developer-mode app using the remote MCP server URL.

What you'll need

  • A ChatGPT account (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education)*

  • Access to ChatGPT on the web

  • A Tactiq account

Everyone can connect to the MCP server. What it's allowed to read depends on your Tactiq plan:

Your plan

What the assistant can do

Free or Pro

Search and list your meetings

Team or higher

All of the above, plus read meeting details, summaries and full transcription

*Tactiq is added through Developer mode. On a managed workspace, your admin controls whether developer-mode apps are available.

Turn on Developer mode

  • Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Settings → Security and login

  • Turn on Developer mode

Turning on Developer mode in ChatGPT

📌 Note: Only connect MCP servers you trust. Review the requested permissions before you authorise an app.

Set it up in ChatGPT

  • Click + to create a developer-mode app

  • Then enter,
    Name: Tactiq MCP
    Remote MCP server URL: https://mcp.tactiq.io

  • Continue to the Tactiq screen and sign in to the account you want to connect

  • Review the permissions and click Allow, and your Tactiq MCP is now connected to your ChatGPT.

Adding Tactiq as a developer-mode app in ChatGPT

After authorisation, Tactiq appears under Drafts in your ChatGPT app settings.

Choose what ChatGPT can read

Tactiq asks you to approve permissions during authorisation. Grant only what your workflow needs.

Permission

What it allows

mcp:meetings:own

Your own meetings

mcp:meetings:shared

Meetings shared with you

mcp:meetings:spaces

Meetings in shared Spaces

mcp:meetings:details

Detailed summaries, AI artifacts and transcript excerpts (requires an active Team plan seat)

mcp:transcripts:full

Full transcript, read in pages, when full-transcript access is enabled for your account and connection

These sit on top of your existing Tactiq access. Connecting Tactiq does not give ChatGPT anything you can't already open in Tactiq yourself.

Setting it up for your whole team

On a managed workspace, an admin has to allow developer-mode apps before anyone can add Tactiq.

  1. Ask your ChatGPT workspace admin to enable developer-mode apps

  2. Each member then adds the app with https://mcp.tactiq.io and signs in to their own Tactiq account

Because everyone authorises individually, each person only ever sees the meetings they already have access to in Tactiq.

How to get started with ChatGPT

  • Start a new conversation

  • Open the + menu and select the Tactiq app for that conversation

  • Ask for the meeting or the result you want

Using the Tactiq app inside a ChatGPT conversation

Here's what you can ask ChatGPT

Find a meeting

"Use Tactiq to search my meetings about the Q1 roadmap."
"Use Tactiq to find my calls with the design team from last month."

Get a summary

"Use Tactiq to summarise my last meeting."
"What were the key decisions from yesterday's call with David?"

Pull out action items

"Use Tactiq to list the action items from this week's standup."
"What did I commit to in the leadership meeting on Tuesday?"

Turn a meeting into something

"Take the action items from my last engineering call and draft a Slack update."
"Write a follow-up email based on the customer call where they mentioned billing problems."

Coaching and 1:1s

"Find my 1:1 with [name] from last week and pull out any commitments they made."
"Compare my last three 1:1s with [name]. What themes keep coming up?"
"Prep me for my 1:1 with [name] tomorrow. What did we cover last time and what's still open?"

If you have several apps with similar tools, name Tactiq in the prompt so ChatGPT uses the right source.

Go further with Projects

The app gives ChatGPT access to your data. Project instructions tell ChatGPT what to do with it.

A Project holds a saved set of instructions you'd otherwise type at the start of every conversation. Set one up for Tactiq and you skip the setup every time. ChatGPT already knows your workflow, which app to use, and what format you want back.

Why they're worth building:

  • You stop repeating context ("use Tactiq", "give me bullet points", "focus on action items")

  • A multi-step workflow becomes a one-line request

  • You can stack apps, so one prompt pulls from Tactiq and your calendar and your notes

Example instructions to get started:

Project name

Instructions to paste in

After-meeting

I just got out of a meeting. Use Tactiq to find my most recent meeting, summarise the key decisions and action items, then ask if I want to turn any of them into a follow-up email.

Weekly catch-up

Use Tactiq to find all my meetings from this week. Give me a brief summary of each and a combined list of open action items.

1:1 prep

Use Tactiq to find past 1:1s with [name]. Summarise what we covered last time, list any open commitments, and suggest two or three things worth discussing next.

Good to know

Summaries require a Tactiq Team plan. On the Free and Pro Tactiq plans, ChatGPT can find your meetings but can't read the summary content. Upgrade to Tactiq Team to unlock the full experience.

Shared meetings are included. If a teammate ran a meeting and shared it with you (or it's in a shared Space), ChatGPT can find it. The same access rules as Tactiq itself apply.

New meetings need a moment. If you ask about a call that just ended, Tactiq may still be generating the summary. Ask ChatGPT to check again in a minute.

Don't include yourself in "meetings with…" searches. Every meeting in your Tactiq already includes you. Say "meetings with Sarah", not "meetings with me and Sarah."

Manage or revoke access

To change which Tactiq tools ChatGPT can use, open the app's details page in ChatGPT. You can turn individual tools on or off, or refresh the app when the MCP server adds or updates tools.

To disconnect ChatGPT from Tactiq:

  1. In Tactiq, go to Settings → MCP

  2. Find the ChatGPT authorisation under Active connections

  3. Revoke the connection

Revoking an MCP connection in Tactiq settings

Revoking immediately stops that authorisation from accessing your Tactiq data.

FAQ

I can't see Developer mode

Confirm you're using ChatGPT on the web with an eligible plan. If you're on a managed workspace, ask your workspace admin whether developer-mode apps are available.

ChatGPT can find meetings but can't read their summaries

Detailed summaries and AI artifacts require an active Tactiq Team plan seat and the mcp:meetings:details permission. Existing connections keep the permissions approved when they were first created, so if you upgraded after connecting, the new permission isn't added automatically. Go to Settings > MCP in Tactiq, revoke the connection, and connect again so you can approve the updated permission.

💡 The details permission requires an active seat on a Team plan. If you see an Upgrade button instead of the permission, ask your Team admin to assign you a seat before reconnecting.

ChatGPT can't retrieve transcript excerpts or the full transcript

Confirm you have an active Tactiq Team plan seat. Transcript excerpts use mcp:meetings:details. Full-transcript access also requires mcp:transcripts:full and must be enabled for your account and connection.

If you connected Tactiq before transcript access was added, go to Settings > MCP in Tactiq, revoke the connection, and reconnect from ChatGPT. Review and approve the transcript permissions offered during authorisation. If the full-transcript permission isn't offered, it isn't currently enabled for that account or connection.

Reconnecting Tactiq to approve transcript permissions

A shared meeting or Space meeting doesn't appear

Reconnect Tactiq and approve mcp:meetings:shared or mcp:meetings:spaces, depending on where the meeting lives. You also need access to the meeting in Tactiq itself.

Authorisation keeps returning to the sign-in screen

Clear your browser cookies for tactiq.io, then reconnect the Tactiq app from ChatGPT.

A recent meeting summary isn't ready

Tactiq may still be generating it. Ask ChatGPT to check the meeting again once processing finishes.
