Use Tactiq to capture live captions and create a transcript during your Zoom meetings. After the meeting, you can review the transcript and use Tactiq’s AI tools from your dashboard.
How to transcribe your Zoom meeting
Tactiq supports two ways to transcribe Zoom meetings:
Meeting method | Tactiq requirement |
Zoom in Chrome or Edge | Tactiq browser extension |
Zoom Desktop on macOS | Tactiq macOS app |
This article explains how to use the browser extension. To transcribe Zoom Desktop meetings on a Mac, see this article.
Before you start
Make sure you:
Install the Tactiq extension in Chrome or Edge.
Sign in to your Tactiq account.
Join the Zoom meeting in your browser instead of the Zoom Desktop app if you do not have a Tactiq Mac desktop app.
To start transcribing, make sure to enable Zoom’s
Automated captionssetting.

Tactiq isn't transcribing my Zoom meeting
Check these in order:
1. Are you in a browser?
The extension only works when you join Zoom in Chrome or Edge, not in the Zoom Desktop app. On the Zoom join screen, select Join from your browser. On macOS you can use the Tactiq Mac app for Zoom Desktop meetings instead.
2. Are Zoom captions on?
If you host the meeting, sign in to the Zoom web portal and go to Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Advanced). Confirm Automated captions is on. This is off by default on many accounts, and without it captions cannot be turned on at all. Then, in the meeting, select Show captions in the Zoom toolbar.
If someone else is hosting and you don't see Show captions, captions are switched off on their account. Select Request Captions in the toolbar to ask them, or message them directly.
3. Does the language match?
Open the Tactiq widget and check the transcription language is the one being spoken.
Still nothing? Send us a short screen recording of the Tactiq widget while someone is speaking, or a screenshot of the full Zoom window and widget
Where is my transcript? It isn't in my meeting list
Where is my transcript? It isn't in my meeting list
First check you're signed in to the same Tactiq account you used during the meeting.
If it's still missing, the transcript may have been captured but not saved. Go to Account Settings > Data stored in your browser > Manage Unsaved Transcripts and save anything you want to keep. These are stored in the browser where the meeting happened, so check from the same browser and device.
If nothing appears there, the meeting wasn't transcribed. Let us know and we'll take a look.
To help us investigate
If transcription still does not start, send us:
A short screen recording of the Zoom window and the Tactiq widget while someone is speaking.
Or a screenshot of the full Zoom meeting window and the Tactiq widget, if you cannot provide a screen recording.
Or the steps you took, so we can reproduce what happened on our side.
Then contact [email protected].
