This article explains how to use Tactiq to capture live transcripts during your Zoom meetings. It covers the minimum Zoom setting required, how to enable closed captioning as a host, and how to change the caption language during a meeting.

To use Tactiq with Zoom, make sure:

  • You're signed in to your Tactiq account

  • You join Zoom meetings using the web browser, not the desktop app

  • Automated captions is enabled in your Zoom settings

How to enable Zoom settings for Tactiq

Tactiq only needs one Zoom setting enabled to work correctly:

  • Go to your Zoom settings

  • Under In Meeting (Advanced), turn on Automated captions

💡 Note:

  • While Tactiq works primarily with Zoom meetings joined in a web browser, not the desktop client, we currently have a Zoom desktop app in beta for macOS. If you'd like to try it, please follow these instructions and reach out to support if you're interested in becoming a beta user.

How to allow captioning as the meeting host

If you're the host, you need to allow closed captioning:

  • Click the More (...) button in the Zoom toolbar and select Captions

  • Go to Host Caption Control Settings

  • Turn on Allow Closed Captioning for this meeting

Optional host setting:

  • Allow only the host to change the caption language — Enable this if you want to prevent participants from switching languages

How to change the caption language in Zoom

If the host allows it, anyone can change the caption language:

  • Click More (...) in the Zoom toolbar

  • Select Captions > Caption language

  • Choose the language you want to use
