How to use Tactiq with Google Meet meetings

Install Tactiq, capture a live transcript in Google Meet, and access it after your meeting.

Written by Gil Patindol

Tactiq automatically transcribes Google Meet meetings in your browser. The live transcript appears in the Tactiq widget and is saved to your Tactiq dashboard after the meeting.

Before you start

  • Use Google Meet on a desktop or laptop in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

  • Install the Tactiq browser extension and sign in to your Tactiq account. For installation instructions, see How to install the Tactiq extension.

  • During extension setup, enable Google Meet on the Choose your meeting apps page. If prompted to grant access, select Fix, then select Enable Tactiq on the Grant Access page.

Transcribe a Google Meet meeting

  • Open Google Meet in the browser where Tactiq is installed, then start or join a meeting.

  • Confirm that the Tactiq widget appears on the right side of the meeting window.

  • Start speaking. Tactiq begins transcribing automatically and displays the live transcript in the widget.

  • Check that spoken words appear in the widget. If transcription does not start, select Turn on captions (CC) in Google Meet.

  • Keep the meeting open and remain in the call while you want Tactiq to transcribe. Transcription stops when you leave the meeting.

Change the transcription language

Select the language being spoken so Tactiq can create an accurate transcript:

  • In the minimized Tactiq widget, select the displayed language, then choose the correct language.

  • In the expanded widget, select Change on the blue banner, then choose the correct language.

Your selected language remains active for future meetings until you change it again. For additional instructions, see How do I change the transcription language during a meeting?.

💡 Note: Change the language during the live meeting. Tactiq cannot retroactively change the transcription language of a completed live transcript.

Access the transcript after the meeting

  • Leave or end the Google Meet meeting. Tactiq saves the transcript to your Tactiq dashboard.

  • Open the transcript from your dashboard or use the link in the transcript email from Tactiq.

  • If you enabled automatic saving to Google Drive, find the transcript in the Tactiq Transcription folder in Google Drive. See How to set up Google Drive integration.

Troubleshoot transcription in Google Meet

If the Tactiq widget appears but transcription does not start:

  • Select Turn on captions (CC) at the bottom of the Google Meet window and confirm that live captions appear.

  • Select the CC button in the Tactiq widget if Google Meet captions are already active.

  • Confirm that the Tactiq extension is enabled and has permission to run on Google Meet.

  • Leave the meeting, rejoin it, and check whether the transcript begins.

For complete troubleshooting steps, see How to troubleshoot Tactiq not activating in Google Meet.
