To use Tactiq with Google Meet, install the browser extension and it will start transcribing your meetings automatically once you begin speaking.

Install the Tactiq extension

  • Go to the Chrome or Edge Web Store

  • Search for Tactiq and click Add to Chrome (or Edge)

  • Once installed, the extension will be ready to use

💡 Notes:

  • If Google Meet isn’t starting in Google Chrome, make sure you’re using the latest version of Chrome’s web browser.

Join a Google Meet

  • When you join a Google Meet call, Tactiq will automatically begin transcribing once you start speaking

  • No need to press anything—just make sure the extension is active in your browser

Change the transcription language

Tactiq uses English as the default language, but you can easily switch it during a meeting using the Tactiq widget on the right side of your screen.

  • Minimized widget: Click the current language and select your preferred one

  • Maximized widget: Click the Change button and choose your language

💡 Note: The selected language will stay active for future meetings unless changed again.

Access your transcript after the meeting

After the call ends:

  • You'll be redirected to your Tactiq dashboard where the full transcript will be available

  • You’ll also receive an email with a link to the transcript

If you’ve connected Tactiq with Google Drive, you can also share the transcript there.

FAQs

Tactiq doesn't start automatically with Google Meet

If the Tactiq widget appears in your meeting but no transcript starts, try these fixes:

Turn on Closed Captions in Google Meet

Click the icon at the bottom of your meeting window to enable captions. This activates Google Meet’s built-in captions and allows Tactiq to start transcribing.

You can also enable captions from the menu:

  • Click the More options icon in your meeting.

  • Select Settings → Captions.

  • Choose Live captions.

Check Tactiq permissions in Chrome

  • Go to Google Meet.

  • Right-click the Tactiq extension in your browser.

  • Hover over This can read and change site data, then select On google.meet.com.

  • Open this link in a new tab:
    chrome-extension://fggkaccpbmombhnjkjokndojfgagejfb/options.html#/Permissions

  • Click Enable Tactiq.

After enabling permissions and captions, rejoin your Google Meet. The transcript should start automatically.

Is there a time limit for Tactiq transcriptions?

No, Tactiq can transcribe meetings of any length.

How do I access unsaved transcripts?

Open the Tactiq extension from your browser, and you’ll see a banner if you have any unsaved transcripts. Click VIEW to open and save them.
