If you join a Google Meet and the Tactiq widget appears , here's how you can troubleshoot it.
Turn on Closed Captions in Google Meet
When you are inside your meeting:
Click the CC (Closed captions) button at the bottom of the Google Meet window.
Make sure captions are visibly running in the meeting.
You can also enable captions from the settings menu:
Click the More options (three dots) at the bottom of the meeting.
Select Settings.
Go to Captions.
Turn on Live captions.
Once captions are active, Tactiq should begin transcribing automatically.
If captions are already on but nothing happens
Sometimes Google Meet captions may appear inactive or do not trigger Tactiq properly.
In this case:
Click the CC button inside the Tactiq widget as well.
This ensures Tactiq connects properly to the live captions.
After clicking both, wait a few seconds to see if the transcript begins.
Check Tactiq permissions in Chrome
If captions are on and transcription still does not start, check your extension permissions.
Go to Google Meet.
Right-click the Tactiq extension icon in your browser toolbar.
Hover over This can read and change site data.
Select On google.meet.com.
Then open this link in a new tab:
Click Enable Tactiq if prompted.
After updating permissions, leave the meeting and rejoin. The transcript should now start automatically.
