AI credits let you use Tactiq’s AI features to analyze meeting transcripts. You can generate summaries, identify action items, capture decisions, draft follow-up emails, and ask questions about a meeting.

How AI credit usage works

For most users and AI actions, each meeting uses a maximum of one AI credit. That single credit covers every AI action you run on that meeting such as:

Asking a question in the Ask AI box (the field prompts you with "Ask Tactiq anything about the meeting")
Selecting a Quick Prompt, such as Summary, Action items, or Key insights
Running prompts from AI Meeting Kits
Using workflow steps that involve AI
Using AI actions in the Tactiq browser extension during a live meeting
Asking questions through a connected AI assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT

One meeting uses one credit

You can run as many AI actions as you like on the same meeting without using an additional credit. The first AI action uses that meeting's one credit, and everything after it on the same meeting is free. For example:

Asking Tactiq AI questions during a live meeting and continuing the conversation afterwards uses one credit.
Running several Quick Prompts for the same meeting uses one credit.
Running a workflow that generates an AI summary uses one credit - even if the workflow has several AI steps, as long as every step runs on the same meeting.
Running a workflow on a meeting and then asking a few follow-up questions about that same meeting uses one credit in total.

The one credit is shared across every surface. Using AI on the same meeting in the browser extension, in the web app, and through a connected AI assistant still uses one credit in total.

💡 Note: AI credits and meeting transcription credits are separate. Running out of AI credits does not stop Tactiq from transcribing meetings.

Check your AI credit usage

Sign in to the Tactiq dashboard.
Select Account & Settings from the sidebar.
Select Billing.
Review your AI credit usage for the current monthly period.

AI credits reset monthly. Paid-plan credits renew based on the date your subscription began. Free-plan credits renew based on your Tactiq sign-up date.

For example, if your plan began on the 17th, your credits renew on the 17th of each month.

📌 Note: Unused AI credits do not roll over to the next monthly period.

What happens when your AI credits run out

When you use all your available AI credits:

You can continue to access and transcribe meetings.
AI features remain unavailable until your credits renew or you upgrade to a plan with more AI credits.
Existing AI conversations remain available under AI Chats in the meeting view.

FAQs

How many credits does one meeting use?

One. Each meeting uses a maximum of one AI credit, no matter how many AI actions you run on it. The first AI action uses the credit, and everything after that on the same meeting is free.

I used AI across several meetings at once. Why did it use more than one credit?

Because AI credits are counted per meeting. Each different meeting you run AI on uses its own credit, so running AI on three different meetings uses three credits, even when you do it in one sitting. The number of credits depends on how many different meetings you use AI on, not how many questions you ask.

Can I buy additional AI credits on the Pro plan?

No. Additional AI credits cannot be purchased separately. You can upgrade to the Team plan for unlimited AI credits.

How can I earn extra AI credits?

You receive one additional AI credit for each successful referral. The invited person must be a new Tactiq user and create their account through your referral link. See How the Tactiq referral program works for instructions.

Do unused AI credits roll over?

No. Your allowance resets each month, and unused credits do not carry over.

Are AI credits the same as meeting credits?

No. Meeting credits are used to transcribe meetings, while AI credits are used to analyze transcripts with Tactiq’s AI features. Learn more in How meeting credits work.
