Set the language people are speaking so Tactiq can generate a more accurate live transcript. You can change the language from the Tactiq widget during a Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams meeting. When needed, also update your meeting platform's caption language so both settings match.

💡 Note: Tactiq uses one active transcription language at a time. Change it before the conversation begins whenever possible. A language change applies to speech captured after the switch and does not reprocess earlier transcript text.

Before you start

Join the meeting in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Tactiq works through the browser extension and does not appear in the native Zoom or Microsoft Teams desktop apps.
Confirm that the Tactiq extension is installed and enabled.
Check the language shown in the Tactiq widget when the meeting starts, especially when the meeting will use a different language from your previous call.

Change the language in the Tactiq widget

In the minimized widget, select the displayed language.
In the expanded widget, select Change on the blue Transcribing banner.
Select the language people are speaking.
Confirm that the Transcribing banner shows the new language.

Tactiq will use the selected language for new speech in the live transcript. The selection remains active for future meetings until you change it again.

Match the language in Google Meet

Update Google Meet's meeting language if captions are off or the language shown in Meet does not match the conversation.

Select More options in the meeting controls, then select Settings.
Select Captions.
Open Language of the meeting and select the language people are speaking.
Select Live captions if captions are not already on, then close Settings.

Google Meet will use the selected language for new captions. Make sure the language matches the one shown in the Tactiq widget.

Match the caption language in Zoom

The host must allow automated captions before you can use this setting.

Select the up arrow next to Show captions in the meeting controls. If Show captions is not visible, select More first.
Select Caption language.
Select the language people are speaking, then select Save.

Zoom will use the selected language for captions for all participants. The available languages depend on the host's automated caption settings.

💡 Note: If you see Request captions instead of Show captions, send the request to the host. After the host approves it, select the spoken language when prompted.

Match the spoken language in Microsoft Teams

Select More actions in the meeting controls, then select Language and speech > Show live captions.
Next to the captions, select Caption settings > Language settings.
Open Meeting, select the spoken language and select the language everyone is speaking.
Select Update.

Teams will use the selected spoken language for new captions and transcription.

💡 Note: The meeting organizer, co-organizer, transcription initiator, or the person who started a feature that enabled transcription can change the meeting's spoken language. If the setting is unavailable, ask one of these people to update it.

Troubleshooting

The Tactiq widget does not appear.

Join the meeting in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and confirm that the Tactiq extension is installed, enabled, and allowed to access the meeting platform.

The transcript is inaccurate after I changed the language

Confirm that the Tactiq widget and the meeting platform show the same spoken language. The update only affects speech captured after the change.

I cannot change the language in Zoom.

The host may need to enable automated captions or approve your caption request.

I cannot change the spoken language in Microsoft Teams

Ask the organizer, co-organizer, transcription initiator, or the person who started transcription to update Meeting spoken language.

Can Tactiq transcribe more than one language in the same meeting?

Tactiq supports one active transcription language at a time. If the conversation switches languages, update the setting when the spoken language changes.

Can I change the language after the meeting?

A completed live transcript cannot be reprocessed in another language. If you have the recording, upload it to Tactiq and select the correct transcription language during upload.
