Tactiq for macOS (Beta) lets you transcribe Zoom Desktop meetings without using a browser extension. Once the app is installed and you’re signed in, every Zoom meeting you join will be captured, including system audio and your microphone, and uploaded to your Tactiq dashboard when the call ends.
Requirements
macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel)
Zoom Desktop Client, up to date
A Tactiq account — create one at tactiq.io
Installing the app
You can install the Tactiq macOS app in two ways. Both options take you to the same app download.
Option 1: Install during account setup
When setting up your Tactiq account, you may be prompted to install the macOS app so you can transcribe Zoom Desktop meetings.
Follow the setup steps and select the macOS app download when prompted. Once downloaded, open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
Once downloaded, open the .dmg file and drag Tactiq into your Applications folder.
You can then launch Tactiq from Spotlight or your Applications folder. If macOS shows a security prompt, just click Open.
Option 2: Install from the Integrations page
If you already completed account setup, skipped the app installation, or need to reinstall the macOS app later, you can download it from your Tactiq dashboard.
Open your Tactiq dashboard.
Go to Integrations.
Find the macOS app / Zoom Desktop integration.
Select Download or Install.
Open the downloaded file and follow the installation steps.
This is the same macOS app download offered during account setup, so you can use either path depending on where you are in your Tactiq setup.
After installing the app, return to Tactiq and follow the remaining setup steps to start transcribing Zoom Desktop meetings.
Grant permissions and sign in
The first time you open Tactiq, you’ll be asked to sign in to Tactiq and then allow a couple of permissions so it can capture audio during your meetings:
Microphone access to capture your voice
Screen & System Audio access to capture other participants
After that, you will be prompted to do a Test Call, which is important to make sure that everything works as expected.
Start transcribing
With the app open, you can simply join or start your Zoom meeting as usual.
Once you join or start your Zoom meeting, transcription will begin automatically as soon as someone speaks.
Once you're in the meeting, you’ll also see the Tactiq menu in your Mac menu bar. This is a quick way to confirm that transcription is running and gives you options to pause or stop transcribing if needed.
💡 Your transcript will appear in your Tactiq dashboard under the meeting’s calendar title once your meeting ends.
When your meeting ends, you’ll see a notification letting you know your transcription is being processed.
Your transcript will then appear in your Tactiq dashboard under the meeting’s calendar title once processing is complete.
💡 If the app quits mid-meeting, don't worry — Tactiq saves the recording locally and uploads it the next time you open the app.
Good to know
The app auto-updates — you'll always be on the latest version.
It's currently macOS-only and Zoom Desktop-only. For Google Meet or Teams, keep using the browser extension.
The app is in Beta. Share feedback here — it shapes what we build next😊.
